5 years. 227 posts. 49010 visitors ~ Happy b’day to my bLoG ! :)

5th Blogoversary it is ! I was reminded of my Blogoversary by Facebook today. Early this morning, I got a pop up in my news feed which said ” XXX you have an awesome memory to share with your friends “. And that’s when I realized about this half-a-decade blogversary.

The past year has been so slow. At least for my blog. I haven’t been keeping this blog very active. I just did 47 posts in 365 days. All this in-activeness in this space is mainly because of Lime. Every time I plan to write something and sit with my laptop, he interrupts and I stop. However, my big achievement in the past year has been participating in the Blogathon!. I did post every day during the month of January. 31 posts in 31 days was indeed a big deal for me. I wish and hope to participate in more challenges in the upcoming years and keep this blog alive.

Wish me luck everyone. As always thanks to all my wonderful fellow bloggers who have been reading this space regularly. And thanks to all lurkers too.

Stay tuned  peeps.!

P.S.: Something is wrong with my widgets on the right side of this page. Most of them have not been updating since a long time now. I don’t know why.

4 years. 180 posts. 37035 visitors ~ Happy b’day to my bLoG ! :)

Happy happy birthday to ‘My corner of the World’ 🙂 🙂 🙂

Aww.. I can’t believe its already been 4 years. It’s kind of really hard to believe that I have managed to accomplish something like this. 4 years. 180 Posts. 37035 Visitors.

Blogging has been so much fun. It has been with me through all my ups and downs. It has been supportive. I share a special bond with my blog and I love my blog!

I am an introvert. Writing is something very real to me. As most of you already know, I prefer writing to talking and reading to listening. No doubt, writing about me has been so much fun so far. Taking time to write about all that’s happening in my life was hard. But I’m truly enjoying this experience. Blogging has not interfered with any of my other activities in life. Sometimes, I write a post in office during my lunch time. Some other times, I write while I’m watching TV and at other times I just think of what to  write while driving back home and then finish the post after dinner. It is so much fun you know. I think interest and the desire to write is all that matters.

And WordPress – Thank you so much for this.

All bloggers who have been reading and commenting in this space – Thank you! Especially her, her, her and her. I thank all my other regular readers as well. All of you who have been reading but not commenting – thank you too! 😉

Take care and stay tuned for more posts! 🙂

#100happydays (Day-17)

Two years, 142 posts, 22855 visitors ~ Happy b’day to my bLoG ! :)

Wohoo! I can’t believe it’s already been two years. I really can’t. In this post I just thought I would write about where it all started and answer a few questions that people often ask.

When did you start your blog?

June 16, 2010. It all started with this post not knowing what to write and with weird thoughts like ‘Will I have someone to read?’. But, today, here I am pushing  142 posts with 22,855 visitors. Blogging has really made me realize that I can write about anything that happens in my life.

How did you come up with the name “Lemon and Lavender”?

Ah! This is the most common question that people always ask. At some point I did not want to blog under my orthonym. So, I just called myself as Lavender and the better half as Lemon. Initially, Lemon thought it was crazy to blog under these names. But, like the great husband he is, he encouraged me to do so since he knew blogging was something that I always wanted to do. However, the story behind these names is actually best if it remains unsaid.

Why and how did you start blogging?

I have never thought of myself as a blogger. Initially, I did not have any understanding of what blogging actually required. I did not know how to set up a blog or publish posts. I just started reading blogs in the year 2007 and it became one of my favorite hobbies. Slowly I wanted to write a lot about myself and have my own blog. I knew I had a creative side somewhere inside me but I never knew how much of a creative side I really did have. At school and in college, I used to be this silent girl who hardly spoke with anyone. And sometimes, I would start with something to write and hit the delete key over and over. There was even a time when I hated to write. Fortunately at business school, I had to write lots and lots of essays. Initially, I would just stare at the screen and it would take me 2-3 days to complete one paper. At some point, I decided to just write whatever came to my mind and finish my assignments on time. The more I wrote, the easier it became. I started thinking that if I can write business essays, then why can’t I write about my own self. And yeah! It all happened! Today, my blog helps me capture all those lovely moments of my life and I am truly loving this experience. I never thought I would have so much to write about me until it all started. I can honestly say that I love blogging and it’s definitely a great way to journal and keep track of one’s own life.

So yeah, it’s now time to thank each one of you. To those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, but have never let me know who you are and to my regular commenters & those of you I do know: Thank you! Last but not the least, feel free to sing happy birthday to my dear blog!

oNe year, 100 posts, 8662 visitors ~ Happy b’day to my bLoG ! :)

It’s time for a double celebration! Today, ‘My corner of the world’ celebrates her 1st birthday. And, a little extra celebration since it’s my 100th BLOG POST! Yay !! 🙂 This is definitely some kind of record for me since I have been constantly posting something or the other every week. This blog has never seen a dry period. So people, wish me and my blog!! Also, wish that I do not go all lazy anytime 😛

I started with this post not knowing what to write and with weird thoughts like ‘Will I have someone to read?’. But, today, here I am pushing 100 posts with 8662 visitors. Every day with the best readers around me, I feel very blessed. Thanks for reading, commenting, following and emailing. I am happy to hear that I have inspired so many of you and I am delighted to have you all here. This one year journey has revealed so many things. Besides the fact that I can “write”, blogging has also helped me realize so many things about myself.

(i) I have something to write: I’ve realized that I can write about anything that happens in my life. Enough said.

(ii) Someone somewhere is listening to me: Initially, I wrote in isolation. Only a handful of people knew about this blog. If you dig into the archives you can find many posts with zero comments. YES! ZERO. COMMENTS. And, then at one point when I decided to go public, people discovered my blog too. With the number of subscribers and with the number  of comments today, I believe that someone somewhere is listening to me!

(iii) I love my life: My corner of the world‘ has helped me capture every joy, every thought, every moment in my life. I am loving this experience. Jotting down all those happy/sad/awesome moments everyday is so much fun!

(iv) My rewards and recognition in the blogosphere:

  1. My post : wHy we MarrIeD? was selected as one of the picks for BlogJunta Editor’s choice, May 2011.
  2. BlogJunta: Winner of MAY JUNTA OF THE MONTH!
  3. My Indirank: 73

Finally, here’s a list of my popular posts last year

That’s all about my blog for the past year. I hope you enjoyed reading my posts and I look forward to write more in the coming years.

Before I go, I would like to say thanks…
