A decade of togetherness

‘Us’ in the Venetian Gondola ride

TEN YEARS? It’s Insane! And Awesome!! It’s a lot of life lived together. Don’t you think? It sure is! Our 10 year journey includes 7 countries, 26 states, 5 homes, 4 jobs, 2 cars, lots of debts, lots of arguments, countless precious moments and just us.

I think ten years ago, he just got super duper lucky and I said yes. Soon he became the king and I became the queen. We both were pretty young and had no idea how life is going to be. We grew up together in this marriage and learned to adjust and compromise. We have seen our fair share of ups and downs.

11 years ago we met. 10 years ago we got married. 7 years ago, we had our handsome prince. 5 years ago, we built our first castle together. 3 years ago, we had our beautiful princess. Today the family is complete and we are looking forward to many many more decades to come.

4 years. 180 posts. 37035 visitors ~ Happy b’day to my bLoG ! :)

Happy happy birthday to ‘My corner of the World’ 🙂 🙂 🙂

Aww.. I can’t believe its already been 4 years. It’s kind of really hard to believe that I have managed to accomplish something like this. 4 years. 180 Posts. 37035 Visitors.

Blogging has been so much fun. It has been with me through all my ups and downs. It has been supportive. I share a special bond with my blog and I love my blog!

I am an introvert. Writing is something very real to me. As most of you already know, I prefer writing to talking and reading to listening. No doubt, writing about me has been so much fun so far. Taking time to write about all that’s happening in my life was hard. But I’m truly enjoying this experience. Blogging has not interfered with any of my other activities in life. Sometimes, I write a post in office during my lunch time. Some other times, I write while I’m watching TV and at other times I just think of what to  write while driving back home and then finish the post after dinner. It is so much fun you know. I think interest and the desire to write is all that matters.

And WordPress – Thank you so much for this.

Navratri mEmOrIeS

2008. Friday evening. It was raining heavily. I started early from office to catch the last flight from Bombay to Madras. On my way, I had a fight with the auto-wala to drive fast to reach the airport on time. Had I been late by 5 more minutes, I would have missed the flight. Yes. Come to think of it.  After hurriedly moving ahead through the security line, I boarded the flight. Phew! Mom, Dad and paati were waiting for me at Madras airport. They were little angry on me to have booked a last-minute-highly-priced flight ticket to Madras, just for the weekend, to see the Golu at home. But, I still remember the happiness on their face when they saw me. Aww.. I love them all! <hugs>

Well, Navratri is back and I am Nostalgic…. I miss the vibrant celebrations in my city now. I miss the the passion of collecting dolls. The way we maintain and clean them… and then thinking of innovative ways to present them…!!

I am totally in love with this festival and I thought I must put few of my pics in my blog for posterity. I hope you will like them, too.

This is a very old pic ~ Golu @ my home, Oct 2008…

…One of the tallest and my favorite golu-bommai @home…

2011. I am learning a new way of celebrating it here in US. I will be doing more posts about golu this year, hopefully. For now, I leave you with some more pics of my golu in US of A.

What are your Navratri Memories? How are you all planning to celebrate? 🙂

Big year and a half

 Dear Lemon,

Today we celebrate our one-and-a-half-year anniversary since being married back in February. So, yes today is special. It has been such an amazing journey so far with you and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. I am thankful to have met you. I am thankful to have you. I am thankful for all the happiness and the security. So, today is celebrated. With chocolate cakes, good food and a good movie.

I look forward to many many more wonderful years. Happy anniversary to my bestesttt friend, my loveliest husband, my dear Lemon. 🙂

Lots of love,

Lavender

A letter to my dad

Dear Daddy,

Where do I even start? The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of you is that I love you daddy. You have been wonderful and everything as a daddy that a daughter would ever want. You are the bestest daddy 🙂

You are the one who I first loved. You are the one I argue the most. You are the one who thought  that I grew up too fast. You are the one who pitied Lemon when we got married. You are the one who always made sure that ‘kisi ki nazar na lage meri beti ko’. You are the one who never forced me to do anything that I don’t like. You are the one who scolds mommy if she scolds me. You are the one who made my snacks in the evenings.  You are the one who sends me Birthday, New year, Diwali & Pongal greeting cards even today. You are the one who ignored me when I had so many crazy cartoon stickers in my bedroom and worried only about the marks that the stickers would leave on the wall!! 🙂

Our never-ending arguments about a famous trait of yours?  You always wear ONLY plain-white-color-full-hand-shirts. Not even the white-self-designed ones. Why dad? Is it just because you love the color or just because you are a lawyer? No amount of arguments would ever change you. After any fight, you would come to me the next moment and say, ‘Can we be friends again’? Aww… What would I do? I would always end it by asking some extra pocket money. 😛

The family time. The way we gang up against mom and hear her scream at us. Aww! It was so much fun! Every weekend the four of us would sit together and do nothing in particular, but yet had fun.  You taught us  the most valuable lessons in life. You taught us to be stronger. You taught us to bear pain and you were always there to offer a helping hand. We all love you, Dad! Thanks for everything. 🙂

Let me go ahead and wish you now. Happy Father’s day, Dad! 🙂 I absolutely love you and I am proud to be your daughter. Have an awesome year ahead..! 🙂
